WaterJet Maintenance Made Easy
Those of you that are operating water jets are all too familiar with the need to periodically remove the residual garnet or mud that accumulates in the tank. This “mud” is that natural waste material created by using the water jet can be removed in many different ways and with a predictable trade off of expense to convenience. We believe that the Mud extractor is the most suitable and affordable answer to most water jet operators. After all, it was developed by a water jet operator just like you who did not choose to buy the very expensive extraction systems that are recommended by Water Jet manufacturers.
image_1The operation follows the simple theory that if you can turn a solid into a flowable liquid( Slurry) it can be moved easily. There is no magic to this, all we did was use a suitable pump that is designed to pump a slurry solution, combined it will a filter and suction, and a nozzle that mixes water with the solid mud at the bottom of the tank to create the slurry.
Read More We then pump the solution into one or more 55 gallon barrels, allow the solids to settle and the water flow back into the water jet tank.
Using a single barrel you have to allow the mixture to settle several times before the barrel will be full of mud and not water. Using multiple barrels, as shown with the three barrel operation, the mud in the first barrel settles as the second and third barrels are filling and the operation runs faster and more efficiently. Our standard pump operates at a capacity of 25 GPM, greater capacity pumps are available.
Pump capacity, settling times, thickness of the mud turning into slurry are all dependent on the operator of the system. It is not unusual however to be able to capture 55 gallons of mud in about as many minutes, including pumping and settling time. If the system is left set up to remove a barrel or two every time an equal number or barrels of fresh garnet is added to the water jet hopper a messy and invconvenient job becomes a short easy maintenance issue perhaps once a month. The benefit of ending up with easily handled 55 gal drums of mud makes storing and disposing of the mud much less of a hassle.
We make no apologies for the simple and effective operation of this product. Why make it appear more difficult than it is. All we did was find workable and inexpensive solution to our problem.
The guts of this product are the pump, suction head, and nozzle. All the other parts are standard industrial parts that can be purchased from the likes of Hope Depot or Lowes. Our price for the mud extractor is around $1500 depending on the bits and pieces you buy, not much more that you would pay for the component pieces. We are put off, as you are, at the pricy solutions to our muddy problem and invite you to share our solution. This is an effective and inexpensive solution to our problem and we are happy to share it with you.
Our $1500 solution comes to you complete with everything you need to pump mud as soon as you receive it. It is packaged in a 55 gallon drum that you can use for removal of your first 50 gallons of mud and whole package comes inside a single barrel that can be sent to you via UPS.
