PDR,
or Paintless Dent Removal is the technique in which door dings, hail damage,
and minor dents can be removed without disturbing the original paint surface.
This process removes the dent by gently
massaging the metal back to its original shape. The damaged area is accessed
from the backside and a special
tool is used to push the dent back out.
It wasn’t until the mid 1980’s that PDR
became widely utilized.
The reason ?
It is easier to fix cars today with PDR
than older cars. Today, because cars are made of a lighter grade of sheet
metal, dents can be removed without the need to fill, sand and paint.
The insurance industry has monitored the
results of such repairs and deemed Paintless Dent Removal an acceptable repair
procedure, making this procedure better in quality than conventional methods
when performed by a qualified technician.
Also, the frustration of being without
your vehicle or having to rent one is over, because most dent removals can be
accomplished in less than one hour.
